Survival
Survival depends on what you do, not what you think
As humans we must have food, water, air, and shelter to survive. If any one of these basic needs is not met, then humans cannot survive.
As indie makers we must have a product, revenue, market and infrastructure to survive. If any one of these basic needs is not met, then indie makers cannot survive.
The four (4) basic needs for indie makers are:
Product (Food): A viable product or service that solves a real problem for customers. This is the indie maker's sustenance - without it, the business cannot exist.
Revenue (Water): Consistent income to keep the business afloat. Just as water is crucial for survival, a steady cash flow is vital for an indie maker's business to continue operating.
Market (Air): A group of potential customers who need and want the product. The market is like air - it needs to be present and accessible for the business to breathe and grow.
Infrastructure (Shelter): The basic tools and systems needed to create, deliver, and maintain the product or service. This could include technology stack, hosting, payment systems, and communication tools.
Why do basic needs matter?!
Without a product, there's nothing to sell.
Without revenue, the business can't sustain itself.
Without a market, there's no one to sell to.
Without infrastructure, it's impossible to create or deliver the product effectively.
One thing you have to realize from now on is that it doesn't matter if this is a dream or not. Survival depends on what you do, not what you think.
Remember, the key to survival – both in the wilderness and in business – is adaptability. Stay alert to changes in your environment, be willing to pivot when necessary, and always keep learning. With the right mindset and these essential elements in place, your indie venture has a fighting chance not just to survive, but to thrive.
